I sent my ESA50 form by Special Delivery, which they received on 13th March, and I haven't heard anything at all back. I'm still getting IB paid into my bank.

Two and a half months have now passed since they received my form and supporting letters from my GP and Counsellor. Any ideas how long I have to wait to hear from them? I don't want to get in touch with them about it; keeping a low profile seems sensible! I'm going by 'no news is good news', but the waiting is making my anxiety worse. :-ss

Thanks for any help you can give.

Be interested to hear what others think. You should have heard from them by now and that may be good news, but they are tricky buggers. I would google or go to writetothem.com and get phone or email details of your MP and local councillors. Local councillors are best and will act much quicker.

Inform them of your situation and the worry you are having whilst in no mans land. Your councillor will be able to find out whats going on on your behalf.

You could contact them yourself but this could be stressful and expensive trying to get through day after day.

Similar to you Tendo, my ESA50 was due back by 6 April. As of today I have not heard a word and am still receiving IB benefit fortnightly, my most recent was 31 May. Towards the end of April I contacted DWP to inquire if my form had been received. I was told that if I am still receiving benefit then the form would have been received. I am also trying to think no news is good news but it doesn't really help me, I, like you and probably like everybody else in this forum find the waiting unbearable. Also I read the forum daily and see all these horror stories it makes me even more anxious thinking what if I encounter all these problems. Perhaps it may be better if I stop reading the forum until I have some definite answer from Atos/DWP. This is not a criticism of the forum but the more I read the more I worry and am convinced by other peoples experiences that I may be placed in WRAG as opposed to the support group (I am housebound)or worse still not even get ESA at all

I think I'll still lie low, but I'll contact my Councillor if anything goes awry.

Magenta, I know what you mean. The more I read about things related to ESA, DLA and this government (deliberate small g!), the worse my anxiety gets. I'm hoping to be placed in the Support Group, with having both Mental Health and Physical Health illnesses (I'm a power-chair user).

My thoughts are that if you are still getting IB paid regularly, and you've sent off the ESA50 and heard nothing, all the onus is on them, and you should "lie low" until you hear from them. But make sure you keep a full log and paper trail that you can produce if required.

Thanks. Do you mean keep a log and paper trail of my bank payments? I bank online, but can easily print out my bank statements, and keep them with my copy of the ESA50 and supporting letters.

No no! I mean anything and everything to do with your claim - logs of all phone calls, copies of all correspondence, copies of your ESA50, all letters from GP consultant clinics advisors other medical personnel. EVERYTHING.

I have copies of absolutely everything, all safely filed together in a drawer.
