I am no longer willing or able to run The FullFacts. By that I know it is useful for some people and I will keep site online but no longer be admin.
I have been back today after a week off to find in particular personal emails full of the usual problems too much for me, People dont understand I dont really know anything and I am mostly online in running site by myself.
The site will remain online: But may have to be read only ie: No login available. This will be mitigated by no need to login to access attachments.
I will have to stop registrations as at present they are checked by myself to keep site safe.
I will still be putting my oar in via facebook and twitter.
Any offers for admin accepted but if not I WILL STILL plan to keep site online.
Ms B

I'm sorry to hear this. I'd like to help if I can. Though I know very little about the technicalities of running a website, I do spend a lot of time online. Although I understand that it can be stressful and I'm not sure how that might affect me, I'd still like to help.
I recognise the importance of this site and how helpful it can be, not just with providing information but also support and reassurance that you're not alone. It would be very sad to see the site go.

I'm so sorry that running this site has become too much for you. Thank you so much for your work so far and for keeping the site open. I fear the war with ATOS and ESA will only be getting worse in the months to come and this site has been a help to me and, I'm sure to many others. There's not a lot that I can offer to do myself to help right now but i hope that you can find someone to take on the admin. If you're still accepting support donations I could send a little something ...

Miss Ben E Fit, I'm sorry to hear that but I do understand your position. It is tough to be admin to a site and keep up with the responsibilities, which are overwhelming at times, whilst trying to deal with your day to day life. I am not disabled myself but am here for my partner who is. He has moderated in the past and has useful tips, such as putting a disclaimer visible to all saying that moderators of this site are not experts and lawyers and so do not have the capacity to help people with personal requests. And also remind everybody that admin and mods have a disability too, and this is really a site for fellow sufferers to share information and support (on the forum), not really appropriate for individual people to take on the load (via emails). I think some people are feeling very vulnerable and perhaps might be new to the ways of the forum so the most obvious thing for them is to send an SOS email to the mod.
I think I might have some time to do this job, but I am not very confident with moderating people. If you want to send me a message or describe on here if you want, the nature of the job, what is really involved, what the difficulties are, then I can think about my capabilities and get back to you.

MIss B, Keep yourself with the highest admin rights but delegate to Snowman and another well known and trusted member (not me) to help you out.
I am sure you know who you can trust and would do the job even if they had a steep learning curve.
The one thing that should not happen is for any site like this to go off line or stop being so effective.
Please don't give up the fight, it may be hard but it is valued by so many.

Im sorry to hear that, although im not surprised. Being unwell is hard enough to cope with life day-to-day, let alone trying to run a site like this.
What exactly are you having trouble with? I mean, could you explain more about how you operate the registrations. What steps do you take to keep it safe, etc? I know you had trouble having to change the forum before. What other technical issues are you facing with running this site?
I could help with running the site with you depending what it is you need/want. I would hate to see a helpful site like this go down because it has become too much work for someone to run (like BBC Ouch, although different reasons).
Personally, I am a member of a few forums on disabilities and those focussed on specific conditions (basically support groups) and because of this I am more of a 'reader' than a 'poster'. If you were wanting to have more of a moderators role, jumping in talking to everyone, bringing up news stories/benefit changes, offering advice and that kind of thing, but need help from someone in the actual running of the site then I am more than happy to help. In that situation, I also think it would be a good idea to bring in a few other moderators, maybe assigned a specific forum/section that is their main responsibility for looking after (which wont affect how they use the site otherwise). That way, there are more people to spread the load and keep an eye on inappropriate posts and for users to contact if they need to, while actual technical issues can be forwarded on. I think the biggest thing that springs to my mind is that everyone on this site is not well and unable to put in as much as a fit/well person could, therefore spreading the work out amongst multiple people is the best solution to keep it going.
Like I said I am more than happy to help if you would like, just let me know. Putting my medical stuff aside, I dont see any problems as the site is a typical forum run on phpbb (and I do have a computing degree)

The Work that Miss B has done has been of enormous help to myself and obviously MANY others. Ou r friend in Number 10 (Mr C*mer*n) appears to think we sit on our arse watching Jeremy Kyle. The information that I gained from Miss B helped me greatly in coping with the ESA50 i filled in eatlier in the year and eventually receiving news that i had passed and my own case will be reveiwed on 31.3.2013. Its awful that the workload has overcome you Miss B. Rest assured, you are valued by all who use the site

I'd like to ditto all above - especially snowman.
Have never run a site and don't have a clue but I do ( like most of us here I guess) have plenty time on my hands. I suggest we compile a list of all those willing to take a responsibility and then proceed from there.
It would be useful to have some ideas re the tasks - both occasional and day-to-day.
If this gets going and people give some idea of what they have, time, skills, millions in the bank etc it would be a way of moving forward as a co-operative.
Perhaps another forum would be appropriate.
big cyber hugs to all.

I know that this is my first ever post but I would like to say thank you for the help.
Also I would be happy to help out with the site. Maybe if a team came together to just help out when they can so as to spread things out?

This site has been a godsend to me and my husband encouraged us to appeal when we was willing to give up the fight yes we won the appeal in march but again we are on round two. I think what I have liked about this site is to know that your not on your own and you can talk to others in the same situation. Thank you so much.

I'm happy to help out in any way. I've done Modding for about 5 years, and have my own forum (Endosistersuk). It's not very busy, but it's given me more experience. I'm also Lead Moderator on the Chronic-Support forum, again it's not very busy either.
In the past I was Super Mod for Talk-Depression forum, where their Admin left. The structure was Admin, 2 Assistant Admin, 2 Super Mod, 5 Global Mod. When the Admin left, the Asst Admins both became Admin, and the 'promotions' carried on like that, where they felt able to carry out the duties. I was asked to go from Global Mod to Super Mod.
If you want more information, just ask.
Tendo

This is my first post here but I wanted to thank you Miss B for this forum, I have had a lot of elpful advice here while going through IB to ESA, just from reading the advice given to others.
I don't know anything about running a website, or I would offer to help out. I hope it keeps going though.
Take care of yourself Miss B and a big "thank you" for your hard work.

Miss B Thanks for all the work, time & effort you have put into the previous site and this site, I can well believe just how much it takes out of you as what little strength there is soon gets drained.
Good luck with everthing.

I am sorry to hear you are struggling with the Administration of the site. The site offers a wealth of support and is a life line to many. I'm delighted to read you wont be closing it and understand you need for help. I only became a member a few days ago and have gained so much support myself in that time.
I am happy to help if I can. I have a HND in Software Engineering so have some skills if there if useful. The only thing is I have quite sever ME so would not be able to do it alone. I agree with many others who have posted suggesting you appoint more Administrators and share the load. That way the burden is lifted and you can still do what you feel able to.

Sorry to hear that you are having problems in running this fantastic, fabulous site and i am glad that i found it.
This site offers help and hpoe to the most ill and vunerable people and their carers. I don't know anything about running a website so i dont think i can offer any real help on that side, however if i find something that i think may be of interest or help to others i will post it.
Best Wishes Miss B....I hope your health will get better since you made youre decision and i think having a rest will be good for you.

Oh Miss B you have helped me so much, and I can see from all the posts that many people need this site to keep going. It has been a daily "comfort?" in a weird way. The information given is invaluable to so many people. I am willing to help, although, like others, I am not sure what I can do. Please let us all know. I am completely and utterly useless with computers but maybe with some instruction I might be able to be of use. Do let us know and I'm sure you have many, many people who can carry on the excellent work you have been doing. so many emotions to cope with!!
